Viewers watched as Miss Virginia, Caressa Cameron, was crowned the new Miss America Saturday night on TLC.  In addition to winning over the judges in the swimsuit, evening gown and interview competitions, Cameron also proved to be musically inclined.

For the talent portion of the competition, she performed the song “Listen” from the movie “Dreamgirls.” The 22-year old broadcast journalism major eloquently answered a question regarding teen obesity, encouraging parents to limit video games and television. In addition to earning the Miss America title, Cameron will receive a scholarship for $50,000.

Miss California, Kristy Cavinder, was first-runner up for the competition and Miss Tennessee, Stefanie Wittler, was crowned second-runner up. The competition was hosted again this year by Mario Lopez with some help from TLC’s ”What Not to Wear” star Clinton Kelly. The pageant’s panel of judges included former “American Idol” contestant Brooke White, gold medalist and “Dancing With  The Stars” champ Shawn Johnson and actress Vivica Fox, among others.
