According to The Wrap, actor Tom Cruise, who has played Ethan Hunt in three “Mission: Impossible” movies, has signed on to reprise the role in the franchise’s latest installment, “Mission: Impossible IV.”

Cruise will produce the Paramount Pictures production, along with J.J. Abrams, who directed the last “Mission: Impossible” film. Whether Abrams will also direct the new flick is still up in the air, as no director has been announced. The movie is scheduled for release on Memorial Day weekend of 2011.

While some fans were thrilled, other tweeps were less than excited for yet another addition to the franchise:
