Although many critics slammed the star-studded film “Valentine’s Day,” the dramedy debuted in first place on Valentine’s Day weekend, reports EW.com.

During the four-day period (Monday was counted since it was a federal holiday), the romantic comedy took in a total of approximately $67 million and grossed about $21 million on Valentine’s Day alone.  The success of the film appears encouraging to Warner Bros., who has plans to make “New Year’s Eve,” another holiday-themed film.

In second place is another new film, Chris Columbus’ “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” with an estimated $39 million. Families apparently flocked to see another literary adaptation by the director of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

Despite reported post-production difficulties,”Wolfman” debuted in third place with $36 million.
