New 24-Hour Cooking Channel Launching In Spring

Lovers of the Food Network have something extra to look forward to this spring. According to the New York Times, Scripps–the same company that owns the Food Network–will debut a new 24-hour cooking channel, appropriately titled the Cooking Channel. This will replace the Fine Living Network, which has suffered from low ratings.

Food Network stars such as Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse and Rachael Ray will host shows on the new channel, which launches on Memorial Day. The channel plans to build upon the Food Network, creating shows covering a variety of topics, including brunch, food history, and low-calorie eating, among others. Scripps said their goal is to “grow the combined audience for these channels.”
