Seth McFarlane of “Family Guy” hosted the Writers Guild of America Awards Saturday night in Los Angeles, according to EW.com.

War drama “The Hurt Locker” beat films such as “Avatar” and “The Hangover” to win in the original screenplay category.

“Up in the Air,” which was based on a book of the same name, won adapted screenplay.

Winners in the television category included “Mad Men” (drama series), “30 Rock” (comedy series) and “Modern Family” (new series).

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” writer Larry David received the Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for lifetime achievement.
