Penélope Cruz and Johnny Depp will costar in a movie again, this time in the fourth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” according to a report from EW.com.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that the Spanish actress will take on the role of the daughter of new villain Blackbeard, played by Ian McShane of “Deadwood.” Depp and Cruz were last onscreen together in “Blow.”  Bruckheimer also alluded to MTV News with a bit of a wink and a nudge that there could be a potential hookup between Cruz’s character and Captain Jack Sparrow. The movie is set to open in May 2011.

Those in the Twitterverse are hoping the Cruz/Depp pairing can sizzle enough to make them forget about the conclusion of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley’s storylines:
