NBC has announced that late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon will host the “62nd Primetime Emmy Awards,” which will air live on NBC on August 29.

This is the first time the former SNL funnyman will host the Emmys. Fallon is a two-time host of the MTV Movie Awards and has also hosted the MTV Video Music Awards. He succeeds former “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien, who hosted the awards show the last two times it was aired on NBC, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. Fallon also edged out Justin Timberlake for this year’s hosting honors.

Fallon joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” in 1998 and quickly became one of the show’s stars after hosting the “Weekend Update” segment with Tina Fey. He currently hosts “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC.
