Tony Stark defeated Freddy Krueger this weekend, giving “Iron Man 2″ first place at the box office. The sequel starring Robert Downey Jr. earned $133.6 million, giving it the fifth highest opening ever according to EW.com.

“Nightmare on Elm Street” suffered from the new competitor, dropping 72% to $9.2 million. “How to Train Your Dragon,” despite having been in theaters for two months, still took third place, earning $6.7 million and bringing its total so far to $201 million. “Date Night” and “The Back-up Plan” rounded out the top five earning $5.3 million and $4.3 million, respectively.
