As if daily news updates on reality TV star Jon Gosselin of “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ weren’t enough, you can now get your info straight from the man himself via Twitter, according to EW.com.

Using the name @jongoesselin1, he already has over 21,000 followers and counting.

Some were happy with the newest addition to the celebrity Twitterverse, while others pointed out that not only is he not following anyone but the media covers him enough already:

New “Dirty Dancing” Film in Development

A third movie under the “Dirty Dancing” name is in development, but this time instead of a sequel like “Havana Nights,” Lionsgate is looking to remake the Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze original from 1987, according to comingsoon.net

Julia Dahl is writing the script. No stars for the film have been announced.

“Time Traveler’s Wife” Coming to Small Screen

If the movie wasn’t enough for “Time Traveler’s Wife” fans, they are in luck. According to thewrap.com, the novel is also being adapted into a TV show for ABC.

The creator of “Friends,” Marta Kauffman, will act as writer and executive producer for the show in partnership with Warner Bros. Television and ABC, who has given the okay for the production of a pilot. ABC executives said believe they believe the multi-faceted plot–including a love story and self-contained storylines–will work well in series form.

The announcement comes after the movie, starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, opened third at the box office, making approximately$20 million in its first three days. Interest in the TV show, however, reportedly started much before last week’s release of the movie.

Twitter fans of the movie and non-fans alike aren’t too pleased with the announcement:

Vanity Fair Reveals Best-Dressed List

Actors, professionals, politicians and royalty. Those are just some of the job descriptions held by the people who are on this year’s Vanity Fair International Best-Dressed List, according to VanityFair.com.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were both honored with the title while celebrities recognized ranged from actors like Brad Pitt and Penelope Cruz to musicians like Alica Keys and even athletes like Tiki Barber.

Though Obama’s recent “mom jeans” scandal and the removal of Angelina Jolie from the list made some Twitterers call the magazine’s judgement into question, most were pleased with the final list:

Emmy Changes Lead to Industry Uproar

The typical award show acceptance speech usually goes something like this, “I’d like to thank …” with a slew of names very few viewers recognize. According to EW.com, however, viewers will see less of that at the Primetime Emmy Awards set to air this September on CBS.

Emmy Producer Don Mischer said he has plans to smooth out the award reception process at this year’s show. Namely, to save time during the live broadcast of the show, Mischer wants to pre-tape and edit eight of the writing award presentations.

The saved minutes “will be used to showcase more of TV’s best programming from the year,” Mischer said in a statement at the Television Critics Association (TCA) tour in Pasedena, Calif.

Determined to prove that he was going to make the change in the most dignified way possible, Mischer showed critics and reporters a sample edited clip from last year’s awards. According to EW.com, the edits made a nearly invisible difference.

Mischer said he also wants to make the change in response to potential viewers’ complaints that the awards focus on series that mainstream viewers are not familiar or interested in and, as a result, opt out of watching the telecast of the awards.

Prior to addressing the TCA, Mischer recieved a letter from the Writers Guild, signed by high-up executive producers, in protest to the proposed changes. The letter stated that the change “conveys a fundamental understatement of the importance of writers in the creation of television programming and a symbolic attack on the primacy of writing in our industry.”

While writers, actors and critics are decrying the changes, Emmys host Neil Patrick Harris reportedly has backed Mischer.

Some people are interpreting the change as meaning the Emmys feel that the writers don’t count while others are happy to see the drawn-out speeches go. Many tweeters are using the hashtag #emmysfail to express their disagreement:

“Twilight” Fans Return From “TwiCon”

Passersby may have mistaken downtown Dallas for Forks, Wash., last weekend as a result to the four-day “TwiCon ‘09,” a “Twilight convention” held at the Sheraton, according to MTV.com.

“Twilight” fans of all ages (mostly women) donned t-shirts, costumes, bumper stickers and car window paint for their journey to and time spent at the convention.

Fans had the opportunity to meet some stars of the movie and listen to bands with “Twilight”-inspired names like the Twilight Music Girls and the Bella Cullen Project.

Attendees could go to Bella’s self-defense class, Alice’s makeover room, Emmett’s arm wrestling tournament or cardio with the Cullens.

Saturday fans traded in their Twilight attire for ball gowns and victorian masks for the Volturi Masque Ball. People had to be taken down from the crowded stage when fire officials were concerned that it might collapse.

Also buzzing at the convention were reactions to the news of Rachelle Lefevre’s replacement.

Some tweeple were disgusted that TwiCon even happened, but many others were glad they went the event:

Heath Ledger-Directed Video Debuts

The late actor Heath Ledger’s fight for fair animal treatment lives on through an animated video directed by the actor himself, according to EW.com.

The video, created for the Modest Mouse song “King Rat,” animates Ledger’s opposition to whale hunting off the coast of Australia by showing humans being hunted by whales.

Ledger and Modest Mouse lead singer Issak Brock developed the video after Ledger came to Brock with the idea in January of 2007. Brock says that the video was unfinished upon Ledger’s sudden death in Jan. of 2008, but had been eniterely planned out.

THE MASSES, a company in which Ledger was a partner, decided to finish the video in honor of him, and will release it on iTunes on Aug. 7.

Stephenie Meyer’s “Breaking Dawn” Caught Up in Plagiarism Drama

Could the fourth and final book of America’s beloved “Twilight Saga” be a copycat? Jordan Scott, author of “The Nocturne,” seems to think so, EW.com reports.

Stephenie Meyer, author of the four-book “Twilight” series, received a cease-and-desist letter claiming that parts of the final book of the series, “Breaking Dawn,” copied sections from Scott’s book. Scott started writing her book in 2003 and posted sections to her Web site before its release in 2006. “Breaking Dawn” was published in 2008.

After receiving the letter, the publisher of the “Twilight” books, Hachette Book Group, released a statement saying, “The claim that ‘Breaking Dawn’ by Stephenie Meyer somehow infringes on an alleged book by someone named Jordan Scott is completely without merit. Neither Stephenie Meyer nor her representatives had any knowledge of this writer or her supposed book prior to this claim. Ms. Scott’s attorney has yet to furnish us with a copy of the book to support this claim as requested. The world of ‘The Twilight Saga’ and the stories within it are entirely the creation of Ms. Meyer. Her books have been a phenomenal sensation, and perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that other people may seek to ride the coattails of such success. This claim is frivolous and any lawsuit will be defended vigorously.”

Scott’s attorney, J. Craig Williams, also released a statement that said, “Jordan Scott began creating The Nocturne in 2003. As she developed the book, originally published in 2006, she regularly posted passages and chapters on her web site, www.jordanscott.com. In reviewing Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn, released in 2008, we found a number of instances where the text, characters and story line contain substantial similarities to Jordan Scott’s original work. We seek an admission from Ms. Meyer that our client’s copyright was infringed and that Breaking Dawn and all derivative works be discontinued.”

VMA Nominations Pit Beyonce Against Lady Gaga

The 2009 Video Music Award nominations, announced yesterday, suggest a competition to see which female pop star can rack up the most wins at the Sept. 13 ceremony.

According to MTV.com, Lady Gaga and Beyonce both lead the nominations with nine each and Britney Spears trails close behind them with seven of her own.

As for the males, Kanye West, Eminem and Coldplay each nabbed four nods.

This year’s awards will be hosted by Russel Brand for the second year in a row at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. Already announced to performers include Taylor Swift, Green Day, Pink and Muse with Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and Chace Crawford presenting. More presenters and performers will be announced as the show draws nearer.

Fans have mixed feelings about the nominations, and many are upset about the amount that some artists received:

The scene is famous: Patrick Swayze pulls Jennifer Grey to the stage in the last scene of “Dirty Dancing” and they share an unforgettable dance in front of the whole resort. According to PEOPLE.com, 22 years later, actors Channing Tatum and Charlyne Yi have put their own spin on the scene.

The MSN video shortens all the drama of the 1987 classic to just five-and-a-half-minutes but manages to keep the hair, the language and even the partial-nudity.
