The nominees for the 2010 Emmys were announced this morning by Sofia Vergara (”Modern Family”) and Joel McHale (”Community”). Leading the nominations were HBO’s “The Pacific” and AMC’s “Mad Men” and freshmen comedies “Glee” and “Modern Family.” For a detailed list of nominees, check out EW.com.

The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmys will be hosted by talk-show host Jimmy Fallon on August 29. It will be the first Emmy Awards to air live coast-to-coast since 1976.

Television’s legendary Larry King has just announced that he will be ending his “Larry King Live” this fall, reports EW.com. The talk-show host will be finishing up his 25th year in the CNN 9 p.m. slot.

The show has been the “longest-running show with the same host in the same time slot,” said King, referring to the show’s entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. While he won’t be hosting a nightly show anymore, the journalist will still produce specials for CNN in the future.

In 2003, the television series “Futurama” was cancelled, much to the disappointment of fans and its creator, David X. Cohen. ”Futurama” re-runs then aired alongside “Family Guy” on the Adult Swim network. Eventually, “Family Guy” began to air full-length episodes on DVD, which caused Fox to bring the show back on the air. Cohen convinced the network to do the same with “Futurama,” and in 2007, four direct-to-DVD movies were released. Now thanks to those DVD sales, Comedy Central has picked up “Futurama” for a new season which debuted its first new episode last night, reports CNN.

The show picked up where the last movie left off and will continue its season with milestones which include celebrating the show’s 100th episode. Al Gore and Coolio will also be lending their voices once again in the new season of “Futurama.”

Sudser “As the World Turns” took a last spin on its axis this week, according to EW.com. The show, which has been on air for 54 years, has taped its final episode. The 13,858th episode will air in September on CBS.

The show’s cancellation was announced last December due to it being the lowest-rated soap opera on the air. Since the announcement, the soap has managed to have past characters, including Sabrina and Frannie Hughes (reprised by Julianne Moore), return to the show to send it out in style. While the fan favorites paraded Oakdale, Illinois for one last go, the production behind ATWT, TeleNext Media, tried valiantly to save the show and sell it to another network or syndication, but there weren’t any buyers. CBS has yet to name a replacement for the show.

Soon there may be more “American Idol” hopefuls being driven to auditions by their parents. CNN.com reports that the reality competition show has lowered the minimum age for contestants from 16 to 15.

The show’s executives are saying that they want to give younger, talented performers a chance as well. This change will go into effect when Season 10 auditions start on July 17 in Nashville.

The once highly rated show showed a slipping in ratings this past season. This lowered age minimum may attract more younger fans and boost the show’s viewership.

“Golden Girl” Betty White has been lighting up the silver screen lately, between presenting at the MTV Movie Awards and her stint as a host on “Saturday Night Live”, and this week was no exception. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the TV Land comedy, “Hot In Cleveland,” which co-stars White debuted this past Wednesday to an audience of 4.8 million viewers. This makes the pilot the most-viewed show in TV Land network’s history. “Hot in Cleveland” also managed to beat out the premiere of TBS’ comedy ”Are We There Yet?”

Rapper Snoop Dogg is vying for some vampire love. A devoted “True Blood” fan, the artist released a new music video reaffirming his “True Blood” devotion, reports MTV.com. “Oh Sookie,” a homage to the show’s Sookie Stackhouse (actress Anna Paquin), was released on Thursday on HBO.com. The song offers Snoop Dogg’s best sexual seduction tips in an attempt to insert himself into the love triangle between Sookie, Eric and Bill on the show.

This is the second time the vampire show’s most prominent fan has made a shout-out. Snoop Dogg previously mentioned the show in his 2009 song “Gangsta Love.”

According to Yahoo!, singer Prince will be receiving a lifetime achievement award at the BET Awards later this month.

The successful and influential artist, who has released 10 platinum albums and 30 Top 40 singles, joins James Brown, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Al Green and other important African American artists in receiving the honor. BET said that the tribute will reflect and celebrate Prince’s “unique style.”

The BET Awards, hosted by Queen Latifah, will be held on June 27 in Los Angeles.

It’s summertime, which means that all good television shows must come to a temporary end. The season finale of the hit television show “The Office” has ended, but the good news is that fans can still enjoy their favorite show throughout the summer. The creators have launched a “fanisode” contest for the mockumentary, announced EW.com.

The contest asks fans to select a segment from season 6’s episode “Murder” on the TV show’s official Web site. There are 86 segments from the episode up for grabs, and three people are allowed to sign up for any given segment. Then, the teams of three will recreate their segment and have two weeks to get the video completed and posted on the show’s Web page. The best video will be chosen and posted on NBC’s Web site by the end of the summer.

Vince Chase and his friends might see life after “Entourage” ends on HBO.

Co-executive producer Mark Wahlberg told MTV.com that the plan is for a movie version of the exploits of Vince, Drama, Turtle, Ari, and Eric to come after the series ends its run on HBO, but he doesn’t necessarily say when that day will be. Wahlberg also mentioned that after the Season 7 premiere, there will be six more episodes in 2011. Whether or not those six episodes will be a part of Season 7’s episode count (ala Season 3) or if they will be a stand-alone Season 8 remains to be seen, but Wahlberg is very optimistic about the future.
