Recently, with numerous shows on the brink of being renewed, fans are more eager than ever to save their favorites. The fans of NBC’s spy action/drama series ”Chuck” are no exception. According to The Hollywood Reporter, fans from Chicago, Seattle, and San Diego are planning to demonstrate their support for the show by banding together and forming themed flash mobs on Monday, May 3. A flash mob originally planned for Philadelphia was cancelled due to an uncooperative parks department.

The fans plan on dressing in the show’s fictional “Buy More” store attire – work shirts, name tags, and all. This isn’t the first time that the the fanbase of “Chuck” has staged an event in order to rally support for their favorite show. Last year, around the season finale, fans bought tons of subs from Subway, one of the sponsors of “Chuck,” in order to save the show. This year though, the sponsors aren’t the ones fans are trying convince. The flashmob’s purpose is simple – a persuasive demonstration for potential viewers in hopes that they will rally even more support.

Fans who do not live in the four cities where flash mobs will be held do not have to fret. Those fans can participate on the day of the flashmob by posting “Chuck”-related tweets on their Twitters. Fans can check out all the details of the flashmob events at the “Chuck” fansite.

After much buzz, a last-minute reprieve and a not-so-subtle push from Subway, “Chuck” returned to NBC Sunday night with a two-hour season premiere.

The show has a fairly simple premise : by day Chuck, played by Zachary Levi, is a self-proclaimed nerd that works at a Buy More (a spot-on TV version of Best Buy), and by night he’s the world’s most important asset with a super computer tucked in his brain. Since the whole “nerd-by-day” cover also applies to his night life, he has two super agents to protect him–one of whom he just happens to be in love with.

Created by Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz (who also created a couple small shows called “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl”), the show almost didn’t get a third season. With low ratings in an increasingly difficult time slot, NBC considered not renewing it. Fans united, however, and created programs like Chuck Me Mondays and I Heart Chuck, showing NBC execs that they were willing to do whatever it took to get the show back on the air for a third season–and it worked. NBC gave the show a 13-episode pick-up, which has now been extended to nineteen.

This past weekend, hundreds of fans gathered in San Diego for the annual Comic Con. It was the convention’s 40th anniversary, and featured sneak peeks at anticipated films such as “New Moon” and “Iron Man 2,” as well as panels with the casts of “Lost” and “Chuck.”

The campaign to save “Chuck” apparently paid off. According to EW.com, NBC will renew the spy-comedy for its third season, giving it a 13-episode order.

While the renewal news is good, it will come at a price for members of the show. Warner Bros. agreed to “make significant budget concessions, including scaling back the number of episodes several members of the show’s stellar supporting cast will appear in and, per one insider, possibly eliminating one actor altogether.”

Those waiting to see if their favorite NBC shows have been renewed have received confirmation–for some of them. According to EW.com, NBC announced “Heroes,” “Southland,” and “Parks and Recreation” will air in the fall. They join already-renewed shows like “The Office,” “30 Rock,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Celebrity Apprentice,” and “The Biggest Loser.”

But if you were one of the many fans hoping to hear about bubble shows like “Chuck,” “Law & Order,” “Medium,” “Life,” or “My Name is Earl,” you’ll have to wait a little longer. The announcement today did not mention any of these shows, but EW reports that a final ruling on those shows should be made by May 19. It is believed “Law & Order” and “Medium” will both return, but are finalizing episode counts.

NBC also announced four new dramas, and called for six expanded episodes of “Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday.” The new shows include “Day One,” a show about life on earth following a global catastrophe; “Parenthood,” a re-imagining of the movie of the same title; and two new medical dramas, “Trauma” and “Mercy.” There will also be two new comedies, “Community” and “100 Questions for Charlotte Payne.”
