After receiving the BET Lifetime Achievement Award this past Sunday, Prince has set his sights on promoting his new album “20Ten” in the UK, Belgium, and Germany by giving the album away for free, reports CNN.

This deal will be exclusive to those three countries in Europe as free copies will be given away when citizens buy The Daily Record (Scotland) or The Daily Mail (UK) on July 10. Copies of the album will be packaged with Germany’s Rolling Stone and Belgium’s newspaper, Het Nieuwblad, on the 22nd.

While most people would say that this is a bad idea, Prince has already done this before in the UK, with his last album “Planet Earth” being given away with the purchase of the Daily Mail. That incident didn’t sit well with music retailers given that “Planet Earth” is still not available for sale in the UK. Prince also gave free copies of another album, “Musicology,” in 2004 with the purchase of a concert ticket for his tour.

Soon there may be more “American Idol” hopefuls being driven to auditions by their parents. CNN.com reports that the reality competition show has lowered the minimum age for contestants from 16 to 15.

The show’s executives are saying that they want to give younger, talented performers a chance as well. This change will go into effect when Season 10 auditions start on July 17 in Nashville.

The once highly rated show showed a slipping in ratings this past season. This lowered age minimum may attract more younger fans and boost the show’s viewership.

After a rollercoaster of a year professionally, privately, and emotionally, actress Sandra Bullock is about to be honored again. MTV.com and CNN.com report that Bullock will be receiving the MTV Generation Award during the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, which will be hosted by comedian Aziz Ansari and airs June 6th on the iconic network.

Bullock, 45, who has starred in hits like “The Blind Side” and “The Proposal,” will be the first female honoree of the lifetime achievement award, with past recipients including Jim Carrey, Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, and Adam Sandler.

This event will also mark Bullock’s reappearance in the public eye after martial issues with her husband Jesse James.

At Saturday’s annual White House Correspondents’ dinner, President Barack Obama and funnyman Jay Leno took to the stage to crack up the crowd, chock-full of prominent journalists, celebrities, lawmakers and government personnel, CNN.com reports.

Obama revealed his sense of humor as he poked fun at the Jonas Brothers, Vice President Joe Biden, Senator John McCain, the controversial Arizona immigration law and Leno as well.

On the flip side, Obama wasn’t safe from Leno’s jokes either. The event’s headliner and host of “The Tonight Show” was all laughs as he followed up on Obama’s digs at Arizona and even took a few stabs at the president himself.

In case you missed the Backstreet Boys during their 1990s run as one of the highest-selling pop groups of all time, the popular boy band is back and giving fans a chance to catch them out at sea. According to CNN.com, the boy band announced that they will be heading off on a four-day cruise later this year.

According to the group’s official Web site, cruise attendees will be treated to an “intimate” performance, as well as a photo op session and a beach party.

The band’s fan club members can purchase “pre-SAIL” tickets starting March 15, and tickets go on sale for the public on March 22. The destinations for the cruise, which departs South Florida on December 9, have not yet been specified.

London’s Abbey Road Studios was declared a national landmark this week by the United Kingdom government, according to CNN.com. The Beatles, one of the most famous bands of all time in both Britain and the United States, are credited with making the music complex a cultural icon.

The band recorded “All You Need is Love” and numerous other hits in the studios, and were also photographed crossing the actual Abbey Road for the cover of their album of the same name.

The building is being listed as a Grade II, or protected status. This means that although there are no prohibitions to altering the interior of the building, care must be taken to ensure that any changes “with respect to its character and interest are fully considered.”

After weeks of endless promos, “The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love,” the newest edition of the hit ABC show, premiered Monday night. The bachelor this season is 31-year-old commercial pilot Jake Pavelka. Pavelka appeared as a contestant on the last season of “The Bachelorette,” but was rejected by bachelorette Jillian Harris.

Pavelka will be blogging about his experiences for PEOPLE.com. In the first episode, the Texan narrowed down the selection of 25 female contestants to  15.

In addition to the typical drama onscreen, host Chris Harrison revealed before the show’s airing that a male producer had a relationship with one of the female contestants during filming, reports CNN.com.  Harrison called the relationship “embarrassing” and said it will be addressed in a future episode.

MTV reality star Tila Tequila made a citizen’s arrest on September 6, claiming that San Diego Chargers’ linebacker Shawne Merriman choked and restrained her, according to CNN.com.

Merriman was charged with battery and false imprisonment after Tequila, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, signed a citizen’s arrest warrant once police arrived.

Merriman’s attorney told reporters that the player did not harm Nguyen and that she was “extremely intoxicated and inebriated.”

Nguyen was sent to Pomerado Hospital but her exact condition is unknown.

Noel Gallagher, the lead guitarist and songwriter of the British rock group Oasis, announced yesterday his decision to quit the band, reported CNN.com. Gallagher cited his fallout with his bandmate and brother, Liam Gallagher, as the reason. In a statement on the band’s Web site, Gallagher told fans he “simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

The band was on a European tour for its album “Dig Out Your Soul” and was scheduled to perform in France, Germany and Italy in the coming weeks. Noel Gallagher apologized to fans who had bought tickets for the shows.

Oasis had already canceled another gig at the V Festival in Britain this past weekend because Liam Gallagher had said he was sick and couldn’t sing.

Oasis is considered to be one of the pioneers of the Britpop movement of the early ’90s, gaining stardom with their 1994 hit “Supersonic” followed by one of their most famous tracks, “Wonderwall.”

Per CNN.com, the passing of world-wide pop star Michael Jackson just got more complicated with the revelation that–according to the Los Angeles County coroner–his death was a homicide, a result of a lethal combination of drugs.

Documents indicate that Michael Jackson’s official cause of death is “acute propofol intoxication” as a result of excessive amounts of the drug and others. Previously, Jackson’s death on June 25 at the age of 50 was said to be from cardiac arrest, although speculation that foul play was involved has remained strong in the months since.
