NBC is launching a culinary competition from “Top Chef” producers Magical Elves, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show, which will be called “United Plates of America,” promises to be unprecedented as it will not only test the competitors’ cooking, but also their ability to market a restaurant concept and manage a staff.  Their efforts must impress a panel of investors from both the business and cooking industries.

The winner will receive a restaurant chain that opens in four locations throughout the U.S. on the night of the show’s finale.  The show’s panelists and premiere date have not been announced.

The popular Showtime series, “The L Word,”  which was written as a melodrama that  follows the lives and loves of several lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in Los Angeles, is coming out of retirement and returning as a reality show, according to Variety.com.

“L Word” creator Ilene Chaiken and reality producers Magical Elves (”Top Chef”) will shoot nine episodes of the “The Real L Word,” chronicling the lives of six lesbians in L.A.

While many Tweeters were excited for the reprise of the show, some were hesitant and feared the show might have already run its course:

According to E! Online, singer Billy Joel has confirmed that he is splitting from his third wife, Katie Lee.

The 60-year-old musician and the 27-year-old former “Top Chef” host were married in 2004 after one year of dating.

“After nearly five years of marriage, Billy and Katie have decided to separate,” their publicists said in a joint statement. “This decision is the result of much thought and consideration. Billy and Katie remain caring friends, with admiration and respect for each other.”
