Per The Age, Australian Swimmer Nick D’arcy has been cut from the national swim team after being convicted of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm to a fellow swimmer last year. D’arcy was selected for the team on the 22nd of March this year, only to be removed from the team today following a meeting by Swimming Australia to decide whether or not he had breached one of the organisation’s by-laws. The suspension comes after the Australian Olympic Committee last year stopped D’arcy from competing at the 2008 Olympics in Bei jing for a breach of the Australian Olympic Team’s code of conduct due to the same incident. D’arcy has not spoken publicly yet about the decision handed down today by Swimming Australia, but his coach, Brian Stehr, said D’arcy was considering leaving the sport altogether.
