Detroit goalie Chris Osgood was in need of a bailout (like everything else in the city).

After Chicago’s Jonathan Toew’s scored his second goal of the game with 7:40 left in the third period, the Blackhawks were suddenly tied at two with the defending champs and looking to steal a victory in overtime.

That’s when an errant turnover allowed Detroit’s Mikael Samuelsson to be on the receiving end of a 3-0n-1 break, taking Osgood off the hook and capping an electric 3-2 victory in Game 2 of the two teams’ Western Conference Final series, per the Detroit Free Press.

Cheers and jeers were shouted throughout the Motor City, where the Red Wings take a commanding, but not insurmountable 2-0 lead:

Blackhawks fans were decidedly upset, given the close finish. Some still saw their (Stanley) Cup as half-full.
