Kiffin violating recruiting rules at UT?
Earlier, as reported on Breaking Tweets Sports (@BTsports), the NCAA acknowledged they are examining the use of Twitter by coaches, especially as it relates to recruiting.
Now it’s being reported by WATE.com and the Orlando Sentinel that University of Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin (@LaneKiffinUT) violated an NCAA rule prohibiting him from commenting about recruits.
The recruit in question, J.C. Copeland of LaGrange, Georgia, verbally committed to the Volunteers for their 2010 recruiting class.
Kiffin twittered about it earlier in the day saying, “It’s a beautiful day in Knoxville, Tennessee today. I was so excited to hear that J.C. Copeland committed to play for the Vols today!”
The post was later taken down and blamed on an overzealous employee, but the Vols will have to file a report with Southeastern Conference offices on issue of compliance.
Twitterers allowed to Twitter commented:
