Lakers dominate Nuggets in Game 6; advance to NBA Finals
As it turns out, the Denver Nuggets are just fool’s gold.
The Lakers displayed why they were the West’s No. 1 team with an excellent shooting performance (58%) to capture a 119-92 victory and send L.A. to their 30th NBA Finals in the organization’s history, per the Los Angeles Times.
The Denver “D” never materialized, allowing Kobe Bryant (35 points, 10 assists), Trevor Ariza (17 points), Pau Gasol (20 points, 12 rebounds) to dominate.
Lamar Odom (20 points) and Luke Walton (10 points) also scored in double figures.
L.A. headed back to the Finals. What’s up City of Twitter??!!

Denver has reason to be happy with the step forward the Nuggets made this year (any step was a positive). Unhappy birthday for Carmelo Anthony:

END OF THIRD QUARTER:
It’s not over yet, but unless the Denver Nuggets find an answer for Pau Gasol and the triangle offense, the only travel plans the Nuggets will be making tomorrow will be with a travel agent… for vacation.
Gasol is heating up with 14 point now. Even Luke Walton is getting into the action (*gasp*). Lakers lead 83-67
KMBReferee @TheNoLookPass it’s over, dawg. Denver can’t stop Kobe and they can’t stop Gasol. Put a cork in it. #nba jessielou21 ohh yea lakers on FIRE u smell that its us baby we cookin!! danyiellerenee I’m laying on the couch sick watching the game. Melo’s about to loose on his birthday. It’s LAKERS all day! junestag When Gasol is hitting his shots the Lakers look like the team to beat. However I hate the Lakers so I will be rooting for Orlando.
END OF SECOND QUARTER:
Uh-oh.
The Nuggets intense play– their signature– has waned during the quarter and the Lakers and Kobe Bryant are making them pay.
It’s 53-40 at halftime on the strength of a 9-1 Los Angeles run to end the second quarter.
Kobe-time!
celinaramos No you Birdman don’t mess with kobe you can’t touch him shaneheadboy Contemplating flyin to denver at halftime and hitting kobe’s knee with a pipe at halftime. Tonya Harding style. bamafootball Are there any questions that Kobe knows how to finish? MriLoveMyLife @mrhoward328 jump on kobe shoulders he bout to carry us on this win. Lets go!!!
END OF FIRST QUARTER:
Looks to be another close one between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
Denver needs to win Game 6 to force a decisive game back in the City of Angels.
Lakers hold a 25-20 edge at the end of one.
Trevor Ariza is in double-figures for L.A. which shot 51% in the quarter.
Here’s what Twitterers think so far:
pino_76 25-20 still lakers! I know 2nite is when we go 2 da finals… jakerinard It would be great for Denver to take the Lakers Nuggets series to a game 7. alankdavenport Ariza putting on an offensive clinic…Go Lakers sports_pirate Lets go fellas…shake those nerves out…Nuggets down 5 after the 1st. Settle down Chauncy Rasalsul Can’t give Ariza open looks like that last 3. Nuggets need to keep pushing the ball into the lane.
