Red Wings beat Penguins 3-1 in Game 1 of Stanley Cup Finals
There’s a reason Detroit is a dynasty and Pittsburgh is only knocking at the door.
Again, Detroit showed they can do it without star Pavel Datsyuk, using strong goalwork from Chris Osgood and a go-ahead second period goal from Johan Franzen to take down the Penguins 3-1 in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Finals meeting, per ESPN.
The Red Wings’ Brad Stuart scored 13:38 into the first period before Pittsburgh’s Ruslan Fedotenko evened the score five minutes later.
Then it was Franzen time. Justin Abdelkader added a third period goal, setting off Hockeytown:

steveklabnik Argh. Where the hell were crosby and malkin? thekingofjoy after only one game. I just don’t think Crosby has what it takes yet to lead a team to the Cup. DerrickDarby I fully expect the Penguins to win game 2. I will except nothing less than the Stanley Cup this year for my Penguins
One Twitterer made it out to Game 1 and captured this twitpic of the two teams:
