Penguins get back into Stanley Cup series with 4-2 win over Red Wings
Going, going, Gonchar!
It’s now 2-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals thanks to a 3rd period power play blast from Sergei Gonchar, lifting the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Maxime Talbot scored two goals– the first one and the last one for the Pens who will face off with the Wings again in Game 4 on Thursday night.
Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen scored in the first period for Detroit, which briefly took a 2-1 lead before Kris Letang evened the score before intermission.

Penguins fans don’t care. They just want goals and wins and the empire to fail:

Offense in the first, defense in the second.
First scoreless period of the Stanley Cup Finals, still 2-2. Get ready for a frenetic third!
paulhogard Stanley cup game three intermission. Turnovers have cost the wings so far. Need to tighten up on the forecheck. Time for Coach’s Corner. ChillieFalls @morganpressel Pens scored early. Wings came right back. Then Wings Power play, followed by Pens Power Play. Lots of action and hitting OrangeChuck Wife is out with her friend and I get to watch hockey, life is good sometimes. morganpressel Pretty boring 2nd period in terms of firewors. But good hockey!
END OF FIRST PERIOD:
Pittsburgh, in the comfort of their home arena, is attempting to get on the board in Game 3 of the series, but the Detroit Red Wings aren’t making it easy for them.
Maxime Talbot got the Pens up 1-0 before Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen scored to lift the Wings to a 2-1 advantage.
But a penalty by Detroit allowed the Penguins a man advantage and they did not miss the opportunity, Kris Letang slapping a goal in 5-hole on Detroit goalie Chris Osgood.
It’s 2-2 after one period. Here’s what hockey Twitterers are saying, including about the home crowd’s approach to cheering on their beloved birds:
jclaneve RT @iceburghNHL: Mario to drop the puck for Game 3 … wish he’d grab Sid’s stick and BURY IT! to make the Whiteout crowd go insane! DO IT!! StephanieT313 @Penguins, why a white out when Detroit is wearing white???? Shouldn’t it be a BLACK OUT?? Since the Penguins are in BLACK??? mpilatow RT @goaliemom31: Gotta keep it “even” by giving the #Pens an extra man. One way or another! Go Red Wings! #RedWings bdos83 How do you miss six penguins on the ice for 20 seconds refs??? and then you give the red wings some bs penalties?
The white out crowd starts to fill up the seats:
