If you are even a casual fan of hockey, you would have enjoyed this one.

The Pittsburgh Penguins held on to defeat the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night 2-1 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, heading to a decisive Game 7 back in Detroit on Friday.

In some of the most ferocious hockey you’ll ever see, the final five minutes were a bloodbath.

Down 2-0 in the 3rd, the Wings cut the lead in half on a Kris Draper goal with 11 minutes left. The Penguins killed two penalties thereafter, somehow keeping numerous Red Wings rallies from resulting in the tying goal.

2nd Period:

The Penguins jump out in front on a Jordan Staal goal early in the period. Penguins continue to dominate puck, out shooting the Red Wings 24-12 thus far. Osgood keeping the Wings in the game with some point blank saves late in the period.

1st Period:

You’d be hard pressed to find a more successful franchise in sports over the past 20 years than the Detroit Red Wings. With a victory tonight in Game 6 of their Stanley Cup Finals series vs Pittsburgh, it will be their 5th championship in 13 seasons.

Only the Chicago Bulls run of six titles in the 1990’s would top it.

They’ll have to get through Pittsburgh first, and the Penguins will present a mighty challenge.

The Penguins outshot the Red Wings 12-3 in the first period, but Detroit goalie Chris Osgood stopped them all. Scoreless after one period. Detroit fans are filled with tweet-glee over what lies ahead for the Wings:
