College Football Hall of Fame to Move from South Bend, Ind. to Atlanta
The Mayor of South Bend, Ind., Stephen Luecke, says the College Football Hall of Fame is moving to Atlanta after the National Football Foundation’s contract is up with the city in 2010.
The Mayor says he will consider closing the Hall before the contract termination.
The College Football Hall of Fame, which opened in 1995, had planned on taking advantage of Notre Dame’s prestige and devout following in South Bend. The Hall of Fame has consistently fell short of its predicted visitors per year since drawing 115,000 in the first year.
Tweets in reaction from South Bend have been mixed.
