For the time being, Detroit’s football nightmare is over. The 0-2 Lions, formerly the 0-16 Lions, gave themselves a makeover. Today, in front of 40,000+ fans at Ford Field in Detroit, the Lions won their first game since December 2007 – beating the Washington Redskins 19-14. It was their first win in 19 games.

In addition to ending their losing streak, the Lions gave QB Matthew Stafford and Head Coach Jim Schwartz their first NFL wins.

News of the win spread quickly on Twitter, with “#Lions” eventually becoming a trending topic.
