While watching football this October, you are bound to see much more pink than usual. The NFL is celebrating breast cancer awareness month by adding pink to the field, the uniforms and even the footballs themselves.

The NFL has partnered with the American Cancer Society for the campaign, A Crucial Catch, which emphasizes the steps one can take to catch/prevent breast cancer. According to the ACS, breast cancer is expected to affect almost 200,000 women this year.

Though adding pink to the uniforms will the be most noticeable part of the campaign, the NFL is doing much more to contribute.  ”All apparel worn at games by players and coaches and special K-balls and pink coins will auctioned off at NFL Auction (www.NFLAuction.NFL.com), with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society and team charities,” read an official statement released by the NFL. “This is an issue that has directly touched the lives of so many in the NFL family, and we are committed to helping make a difference in breast-cancer prevention.”
