Down by two, with ten seconds left, Bulls guard Derrick Rose went to the free throw line. Rose would hit both of his free throws, the game tied at 89-89.

With only .6 seconds left, Nuggets guard Chauncey Billups was fouled and given two free throws. Purposely missing the second, the rebound was recovered by Bulls center Joakim Noah who quickly called a time-out. The Bulls would get the ball, down by one with .3 seconds on the clock.

In desperation, the ball was inbounded to sub Brad Miller, who made a game-winning shot as time expired. However, the Bulls amazing last second win would soon turn into a heart-breaking defeat; though the shot was initially counted, officials ruled Miller’s game-winner came after the buzzer.

Across the country, Twitterers felt confident Miller got off his shot in time. If it was too close to call, many said the call on the floor shouldn’t have been overturned.

Tied 4-4 going into the 10th inning, the Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge drove in a run, giving Detroit the lead for the time being. In the bottom of the 10th, Twins first baseman Michael Cuddyer answered with a lead-off triple, eventually tying the game 5-5.

The game, which lasted over four and a half hours, received a lot of attention from baseball fans on Twitter – ‘Detroit’, ‘Tigers’ and ‘Go Twins’ all became trending topics.

With the bases loaded in the 12th inning, Inge would come up to bat again hitting a ground ball to Twins second baseman Nick Punto, who saved a run by forcing the runner out at home. Two outs, bases still loaded.

The next at bat – with a full count, it was the Twins 8th pitcher of the game, Bobby Keppel, who recorded a big strike-out against Tigers catcher Gerald Laird. Keppel preserved the tie and gave the Twins another shot to win.

With two men on, the Twins’ Alexi Casilla hit a ground ball hit into right field allowing the winning run to score. The Twins comeback would be completed in front of a home crowd of over 54,000, in a stadium which was not supposed to see any post season action.

Last year, the Twins faced a similar fate, but lost to the White Sox in Chicago, 1-0.

Despite losing three starters to injuries, including All-Star first baseman Justin Morneau, the Twins have rallied to won their last 16 of 20 games and tie the best record in the AL Central. The Tigers, on the other hand, have won only 10 of their last 20 games.

“It feels good to come back… But it won’t mean anything if we don’t win Tuesday,” said Twins center fielder Denard Span, according to USA Today.

The NFL has partnered with the American Cancer Society for the campaign, A Crucial Catch, which emphasizes the steps one can take to catch/prevent breast cancer. According to the ACS, breast cancer is expected to affect almost 200,000 women this year.

Though adding pink to the uniforms will the be most noticeable part of the campaign, the NFL is doing much more to contribute.  ”All apparel worn at games by players and coaches and special K-balls and pink coins will auctioned off at NFL Auction (www.NFLAuction.NFL.com), with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society and team charities,” read an official statement released by the NFL. “This is an issue that has directly touched the lives of so many in the NFL family, and we are committed to helping make a difference in breast-cancer prevention.”

It was “a tragic day for a decent man,” said Burress’ attorney, Benjamin Brafman, according to USA Today. ”You can violate the law, be subject to severe punishment and not be a criminal.”

Prior to his sentencing yesterday, according to ESPN, a very emotional Burress asked the court if he could say one last goodbye to his family members present. Burress will begin his sentence at Rikers and will later be transferred to a medium-security prison after being processed. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has already stated that after Burress’ released, he will be eligible to continue his career in football. With good behavior, Burress can be released as soon as May 2011.
